Finances or lack thereof can sometimes be a towering hindrance to new business owners as investing in smaller businesses can be viewed as a risky endeavour. Fortunately, the UK Government has set up a number of initiatives with the purpose of encouraging the development of more businesses, by granting private investors a significant tax break when investing in early stage, ‘high-risk’ companies. Two of which are SEIS/ EIS schemes.
The SEIS scheme allows an individual to invest up to £100,000 per tax year and in return receive a 50% tax break. The investor will also benefit from a capital gains tax exemption if there is any profit from the sale of shares after three years.
The EIS scheme focuses on medium starts up and allows investments of up to £1 million a year and investors can receive a 30% tax break in return.
We support the enrichment of your start up by working with many people like you and investors to make sure you both reach the requirements for each counter party to benefit from both schemes.
Most investors require a declaration that your company is qualified for SEIS or EIS funding, as such our experts offer guidance on completing the necessary.
Documentation work needs to be taken out before individuals can be sure that your company is eligible for their investment.
